Hey gang…sorry for going MIA yesterday…my home computer was absolutely freaking out.  Soooo, we’ll combine the Talking About Books Tuesday and What’s Going on With Me Wednesday.  Since the second one is decidedly short, we’ll go with that first *g*.

What’s going on with me?  On the writing front, absolutely squat.  I can’t seem to pull my head out, so I’m taking Friday off to sit my happy ass in the living room with the laptop and WRITE.  We’ll see then if my lack of productivity is because of an actual plotting problem, or just because I’m being subconsciously muleheaded.  More to come on that…

Okay, our book review of the week is…

Black Ice
Anne Stuart

Living paycheck to paycheck in Paris, American book translator Chloe Underwood would give anything for some excitement and passion—even a little danger. So when she’s offered a lucrative weekend gig translating at a business conference in a remote chateau, she jumps at the chance to shake things up. Then by chance Chloe discovers her employers are anything but the entrepreneurs they appear, and suddenly she knows far too much. Her clients are illegal arms dealers, and one of them is ordered to kill her. But instead, Bastien Toussaint drags Chloe away, and the next thing she knows she’s on the run with the most terrifying and seductive man she’s ever met. What were his motives—and would she live long enough to find out

Holy frijole, Batman—what a fantastic book! Bastien is the perfect anti-hero…dark, cynical, beyond caring whether his life will end after his current assignment is over. Chloe is portrayed perfectly, as a woman thrust into a treacherous world beyond her sheltered comprehension. The air between the two sizzles with sexual tension and a yearning that is heartrending, and the ending is stunningly scripted. Make a special trip to the bookstore and gobble this one up
